The brief.

In 2025, Northampton Town Council launched a year-long programme of events to mark the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton. At the centre of the celebrations stood the town’s main church, a landmark rich in history and significance.

The organisers wanted this iconic building to become a bold focal point for the commemorations. The challenge was clear: the installation needed to be visually striking and durable, yet completely non-invasive, leaving the centuries-old church stonework untouched.

The solution.

Commercial Print House, Tangerine Red developed a daring yet sensitive design concept to transform the church into the centrepiece of the event. Struggling to find a suitable material for such a unique application, the team turned to Dorotape for advice. We recommended Kernow Ultimate Lightblock 230STL Textured Roll-Up Film - a lightweight material renowned for its strength, stability, and ability to achieve a flawless fit especially when applied to a curved surface such as church columns.

Printed with UV inks on a Mimaki UCJV300-160, the material delivered everything the project required:

• Zero mechanical fixings - ensuring no damage to the heritage stone


• Seamless, solid fit - enhancing the impact of the design


• Durability - withstanding the elements for a year long installation

The finished installation blends creativity with heritage, vividly bringing the story of the Great Fire to life in the heart of the town. The bold wrap became not just a visual spectacle, but also an engaging way to share historical insight with the community.
