As you have probably seen in the news in the last few days, there is a strong possibility that the UK will leave the EU with effect from 01.01.2021 without an agreed trade deal in place.
Of course, we have been aware of the situation and the question mark hanging over the final decision for some time. We have taken steps to increase our stock holding in the run up to the end of the year so that we have a buffer in case of extended delays at the Channel ports. We are also working closely with our manufacturing partners in Europe to make sure that there are no material shortages going forward.
The likely ‘No Deal’ situation that we find ourselves in means that the UK will operate on World Trade Organisation terms and as a result, there would be import duties levied on all self-adhesive films and other products that we bring into the UK from the EU as well as increased administration costs relating to these imports.
As I am sure you will appreciate, if this happens it would be impossible for us to operate without passing on these additional costs and they would be reflected in our pricing structure for 2021.
